Ingersoll Rand-owned Thermo King has unveiled the first of its SLX trailer refrigeration units at its plant in Galway, Ireland following a trial last November.
The new unit has taken five years to develop and is set to replace the SL trailer range.
The SLX has been designed to be more economical and environmentally friendly thanks to a much larger condenser coil, which helps to reduce engine speeds while maintaining the same performance levels.
Due to the lower engine speed the unit is also quieter and uses less fuel. It also claims to reduce maintenance costs and minimise down-time for unscheduled maintenance.
* Elsewhere, Thermo King has appointed Ermanno Santilli to the new position of vice president ESA bus and global rail.
In the short term Santilli will be responsible for improving the availability of aftermarket spares and dealer coverage in specific markets.
Further ahead, he has also been tasked with expanding the business globally.
