The June commercial vehicle market was up by more than a third on last year, according to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Despite the problems of the housing market and weakness in retail sales, companies are continuing to invest in their vehicle fleet.
While all the major manufacturers show rises in registrations, Volvo, MAN and Renault have seen spectacular growth on last year.
“Healthy truck order books suggest we’ll see stable demand and strong registrations for some time while van registrations have stabilised at record levels,” said Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive. “The van and truck sector is in good shape and although businesses are wary about the economy, we expect tough challenges, not catastrophe.”
