International logistics forwarder Dachser is set to takeover German chilled goods forwarding company Tank group for an undisclosed sum after acquiring 100 per cent of its shares.
Tank is based in northern Germany and operates from sites at Hohenwestedt, Hamburg, Hanover, Breman and Zeven, generating annual sales of 44.3 million euros (£35.4 million) a year.
Both companies offer chilled goods logistics, national and international refrigerated transport services and warehousing.
Dachser Food Logistics, which is based in southern Germany, has a full-coverage network throughout the country.
Gerhard Riester, managing director of Dachser Food Logistics, said: “Our industry and retail customers can in future draw on the services of both companies for their procurement and distribution needs.”
The takeover is subject to the approval of the German Competition Authority.
Following the merger Tank will retain its name and Dr Christopher Leptien, grandson of the company’s founder, will continue as its managing director.
Dachser created total sales of 3.5 billion euros (£2.8 billion) in 2007.
