Tesco has installed loading bay equipment by Easilift Loading Systems at its three purpose-built distribution centres in Livingston, Lichfield and Goole, in a deal worth some £9 million.
At the one million sq ft Livingston site, Easilift has supplied exterior pods for 162 of the 179 loading bays, each of which is fitted with swing lip type PowerRamp dock levellers and insulated, electronically-operated sectional overhead PowerDoors.
In addition, collapsible PowerShelters have been installed in 108 of the bays, while the remainder feature inflatable versions to accommodate double-deck trailers.
The remaining 17 bays have been fitted with scissor lifts capable of carrying 36 roll cages, which are designed to integrate with Tesco’s fixed bed double-deck trailers.
At the 850,000 sq ft Lichfield and 700,000 sq ft Goole distribution centres 100 of the 108 bays at each site have been fitted with similar pod systems, while the last eight pods at each centre have been equipped with 36-cage scissor lifts.
All bays at the three distribution centres feature Easilift integrated control panels, traffic lights and dock lights.
