Barloworld Handling has invested £6 million in 340 Hyster forklifts for its short-term hire fleet, increasing its total investment over the last year to £10 million.
The company now has a rental fleet of around 2,500 trucks including high capacity seven, 12 and 18 tonnes Hyster trucks, pallet trucks, low level order pickers and high level reach trucks, which it lends to storage, logistics and freight handling companies across the UK.
Mark Ward, UK commercial asset manager at Barloworld suggests that the majority of its customers use the hire company to supplement their core forklift fleet with additional units at peak times to help keep costs down.
Last year, the company spent £4 million on replacing and extending its existing fleet and has committed to reducing the age of its trucks to improve efficiency.
