Proton Motor, the fuel cell and hybrid systems specialist, has expanded its management team with the appointment of Thomas Melczer as chief executive, taking over from Felix Heidelberg who is now chief technology officer.
In his new role Heidelberg will focus on developing the company into a product-based, rather than project-based, business to encourage long-term and consistent growth.
He said the move will allow the company to “step up a gear in tackling the technological challenges of the next few years” as well as developing the product range by exploring new sectors and strengthening sales activities.
Prior to joining Proton Motor, Melczer was vice president for sales at Chloride, before which he spent 20 years working for Siemans AG in a number of roles including managing director of subsidiary. He also founded uninterruptable power supply company SPower Holding GmbH in 2007.
Upon his appointment Melczer said: “Industrialised fuel cell technology will be an important building block in countering climate change and dealing with energy shortfalls over the next few decades.”
The other members of the management team remain unchanged.
