Kuehne + Nagel is now operating a wholly-owned national subsidiary in Saudi Arabia and will be developing its contract logistics business in the country throughout the rest of the year, as well as making “considerable investments” in 2009.
The company is already established in the sea and airfreight markets in the area with plans to further expand its oil and gas logistics business.
K+N has had a presence in Saudi Arabia since 1976 when it established Orient Transport Company, a joint venture with E.A. Juffali & Bros.
Following a change in domestic legislation K+N acquired the company’s remaining shares in 2007 and it now operates under the Kuehne + Nagel name.
The Saudi Arabian business employs a total of 80 staff and is headquartered in Jeddah with branches in Riyadh and Dammam.
