A mobile yard ramp from Thorworld Industries is being used with heavy construction equipment at the Terex facility in Warwick. It is used for offloading new machines arriving from the company’s Coventry plant and other European sites where these are not delivered on low loaders, but transported in containers or on standard 40 ft long trailers.
The machines are stored on site prior to delivery to UK dealers and customers, when they are then driven up the yard ramp and loaded onto trailers or into containers.
Thorworld built the 15,000kg single axle capacity ramp, with a useable width of 2,650mm instead of the standard 2,250mm width, so that it could be used with the widest machines handled at the site. It replaced an elderly yard ramp, from another supplier, that an inspection revealed did not meet current health and safety requirements.
