Aldi has been granted planning permission for the £30 million extension of its existing regional distribution centre in Bathgate, Scotland, by West Lothian Council. The 196,000 sq ft extension will be a temperature controlled chill distribution and storage area.
According to the supermarket retailer, the new RDC will employ around 77 staff by 2020 – this is expected to rise to 291 over the following 13 years.
The extension, which is approximately 17m at its highest point, will include:
-Re-grading of existing site levels to accommodate new distribution centre;
-Formation of new parking adjacent to the proposed new building, comprising 19 HGV spaces;
-Formation of new staff vehicle parking of 102 spaces, including 2 disabled spaces
-Formation of a new earth bund to the north and east of the existing RDC of approximately 3m in height
-Formation of new HGV parking to the south of the exiting RDC for approximately 29 HGV spaces;
-Erection of a new gatehouse of 549 sq.ft to east of new RDC building;
-Formation of a new access road linking the extension with the existing RDC
