Aldi is to launch an e-commerce operation early next year to drive growth in the UK.
The new web site will start by selling wines, followed by non-food “Specialbuys” later in the year.
The discount retailer also said it was on track to open 65 new stores this year – up from 54 in 2014.
Sales for the year to 31st December 2014 were £6.9 billion compared to £5.3 bn the year before.
CEO Matthew Barnes, said: “As the grocery market continues to evolve, our unique model, operational efficiency, private ownership and financial strength mean we’re able to keep investing in our business – from people and presence to products and prices.
“At present, there are still 47 per cent of households that don’t shop with us. We’re hugely excited about the enormous scope for growth over the next 25 years.”
