Amazon is expanding its logistics network to allow its selling partners to move their products in bulk from the company’s Amazon Warehousing Distribution wing to ‘any sales channel’, including physical stores.
The new offering which is called Multi-Channel Distribution, (MCD), will allow sellers on Amazon to replenish their sales and fulfilment channels will according to the retailer, ‘simplify supply chain management and allow for cost savings on inbound shipping’.
MCD will allow sellers to replenish their sales and fulfilment channels from a single inventory pool.
The new service is one of several announcements made at a conference in Seattle. Additional announcements included a broader initiative Supply Chain by Amazon, which is an end-to-end automated set of supply chain services which will provide its sellers with solutions to move products from manufacturing locations to customers across the globe.
