Amazon has secured planning permission for a new 99,000 sq ft delivery depot in Deeside.
Similar to its Carlisle depot the new delivery station is expected to open this Spring. The facility – through the online retail giant’s logistics arm – will work with more than a dozen independent delivery companies from the site to provide onward distribution through the region.
This will be co-ordinated through Amazon Logistics enabling it to add capacity and flexibility to Amazon’s delivery network to meet increasing customer demand.
Packages will be shipped to the delivery station from Amazon fulfilment and sortation centres and loaded onto vehicles to get delivered to customers.
Amazon will create around 50 permanent jobs at the delivery station while the independent carrier are expected to provide about 300 jobs.
The depot will be built on 140-acre The Airfields scheme on the former RAF Sealand South Camp. The £95 million gateway site can accommodate industrial occupiers in units from 50,000 sq ft up to 1,000,000 sq ft.
Strategically located at Deeside, north Wales, adjacent to the border with England, this prime gateway site provides immediate access to Junction 16 of the M56 motorway, which in turn provides rapid access to the North West’s comprehensive regional and national motorway network.
