Amazon has unveiled a series of fulfilment and delivery innovations aimed at accelerating grocery and everyday essentials delivery.
Speaking at the Delivering the Future event in London, the company highlighted the rollout of Amazon Now, a new ultra-fast delivery service offering thousands of grocery and household items in 30 minutes or less. The service is already widely available to millions of customers across major US cities, with plans to expand globally and reach tens of millions more customers by the end of the year.
“Amazon Now is for when you need or want the convenience of getting your Amazon order delivered in 30 minutes or less,” said Udit Madan, senior vice president of Amazon Worldwide Operations. “With thousands of items available for ultra-fast delivery, you can get everything from groceries for dinner, to AirPods before a flight, to household essentials like laundry detergent or toothpaste delivered right to your door.”
Amazon already operates 10 Amazon Now micro fulfilment centres in the UK, delivering to London neighbourhoods. Mariangela Marseglia, vice president Amazon European Stores, said Amazon “plans to double that number across the country, and bring Amazon Now to Manchester and Birmingham”.
Same-day delivery innovation
In the UK, Amazon announced that customers in parts of London can now add fresh groceries to same-day delivery orders, combining fresh produce, meat, dairy and frozen foods with millions of other products in a single basket delivered within hours. The service is initially available in parts of Central and East London, with further expansion planned.
“We’re focused on making grocery shopping easier and faster for customers, with low prices on millions of items,” said John Boumphrey, UK country manager at Amazon. “Customers can now add fresh groceries to their regular Amazon orders in a single basket and have everything delivered the same day.”

Amazon reportedly delivered more than 13 billion items the same or next day globally in 2025, with groceries and everyday essentials accounting for a significant share of that growth.
