Amazon is opening a new one million sq ft fulfilment centre in Coalville, Leicestershire in Autumn 2016. Amazon has said that the centre, which will be located at logistics development ‘Mountpark Bardon’, will generate 500 new permanent jobs over a period of three years.
Amazon has already started the recruitment process for a number of positions including operations managers, engineers, HR and IT roles. The online retailer has said that all it’s permanent fulfilment centre employees start on £7.20 an hour or more – with the rate increasing by “at least” 11 per cent over the first two years of employments.
“We are excited to create 500 new permanent jobs over three years in Leicestershire with competitive wages and comprehensive benefits starting on day one,” said John Tagawa, Amazon’s vice president of UK operations. “Amazon has a dedicated and enthusiastic workforce who play a crucial role in delivering a first rate level of service for our customers and we look forward to recruiting people from Leicestershire and the surrounding area.”
Amazon currently has 10 fulfilment centres in the UK, including Dunfermline, Dunstable, Gourock, Hemel Hempstead, Milton Keynes, Peterborough, Rugeley, Swansea Bay and two in Doncaster.
