Online electrical retailer AO has expanded its logistics network with a new depot in Leeds – its 24th depot nationwide.
It has taken Unit 3 totalling 35,838ft2 at Total Development’s 16-acre Total Park scheme on Pontefract Lane, Leeds in West Yorkshire. This latest depot follows the opening of other outbases in Crawley, Newport and Bracknell.
AO’s network of depots, known as ‘outbases,’ are supplied by its main distribution centres in Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe, Stafford. AO said that this model meant it was never more than one hour away from customers.
David Ashwell, managing director at AO Logistics, said: “The new depot is in the ideal location to support our growth as a business – we’ll be able to serve our customers in Yorkshire even better than before and it means we’re securing the best infrastructure for the future.
AO has increased its warehousing capacity by more than 80 per cent over the last 18 months creating 1,500 jobs across the business.
