Online retailer AO has commenced operations at a 275,000 sq ft warehouse at G-Park in Stoke-on-Trent.
The Stoke-on-Trent site is the third warehouse opening in four months for the online electrical goods retailer, and the fifth in its logistics network.
AO said it had acquired more than 500,000 sq ft of new warehousing space across Cheshire and Staffordshire, including a 110,000 sq ft site near Crewe which opened in June. In August it also opened a new depot in Gravesend, Kent – one of 18 ‘local’ hubs.
AO Logistics managing director David Ashwell said: “Expanding our logistics network is a crucial step in our growth strategy, so we can continue to serve customers when they need us the most. We’ve really had to act quickly to adapt to an influx in customers following the Covid-19 lockdown.
“With our latest distribution sites in Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford, we’ve now established a strong logistics hub in the North West.”
The G-Park the site uses rainwater harvesting to reduce water usage and enhanced skylights to make the most of natural light.
The unit has been leased by GLP, while Gordons advised AO on the lease negotiations.
