HS2, the new high speed rail link, represents a huge logistics opportunity as well as a huge logistics challenge. And Peter Sollitt, project director – route wide logistics and utilities at HS2, will explain exactly what it involved when he speaks at the HS2 Rail Logistics Conference later this month.
The conference will be chaired by Lord Tony Berkeley, chairman of the Rail Freight Group, who will also talk about the impact of HS2 on freight capacity on the West Coast Main Line.
The conference will look at the lessons learnt from Crossrail, one of the biggest civil engineering projects ever undertaken in the UK.
This project has demonstrated how effectively managed logistics and supply chains allow a massive undertaking with minimal disruption.
Terry Morgan, chairman of Crossrail, will explain how this was achieved, the progress so far and the challenges still to come.
The Rail Logistics Conference 2015 takes place in Birmingham on 30th November.
