Mission Produce, a global distributor of avocados and mangos, is set to open its first UK facility at Goodman’s Crossways Commercial Park in Dartford.
Mission has signed a lease for a 101,659ft2 distribution hub on the commercial park. It is expected to open in early 2023.
Plans are in place to install a 3,000ft2 mezzanine, as well as technology to minimise fruit damage, test ripeness, and control temperature.
The new location will also be the first to feature atmosphere control technology to create optimal environment for ripening in dedicated ripening rooms. Mission hopes that this will improve the quality of its produce while also extending shelf life and reducing waste
The company was founded in California in 1983 and has facilities outside the US including in Mexico, Peru, and South Africa.
Now, according to Mission UK’s Managing Director, Paul Frowde, it plans to “expand into the UK market”.
