Technology company Balluff is set to open a new smart factory inĀ Aguascalientes, Mexico as it aims to ‘strengthen the global production network and shorten supply chains in North and Central America’.
Balluff will be investingĀ ā¬50 million in Mexico, which includes the construction of this new 150,00mĀ² (161,458ftĀ²) site located roughly 500km north of Mexico City.
The decision to build this smart factory, expected to open at the end of this year, is part of a wider plan by Balluff to grow through the expansion of its manufacturing capacities.
The company also plans on expanding two ‘large-scale production sites’ in Hungary and China, as well as building a new distribution centre near its headquarters in Neuhausen by 2026.
Balluff claims that its new smart factory will create around 700 modern jobs in production, management, and administration.
In addition to supporting the company’s growth, Balluff hopes the facility will also ‘make global supply chains less prone to disruptions, shorten delivery times for the Americas trading area, and boost sustainability’.
Frank Nonnenmann, Balluff’s Managing Director and Head of Supply Chain, said: “More than half of the sensors, accessories, network systems, and RFID solutions produced at the new 15,000mĀ² location will directly supply the North and South American market. The remaining part is intended for the international market.”
