Bibby Distribution has doubled its capacity at its Corby depot by leasing a further 212,500 sq ft warehouse.
The new warehouse was formerly occupied by XPO Logistics. The addition means Bibby Distribution’s warehouse space now totals more than 2.2 million sq ft. The expanded ‘Corby Campus’ alone covers 424,000 sq ft, provides space for 60,000 pallets and will create more than 50 new jobs.
The new ambient warehouse, which has links to the M1 and M6, will support a variety of key food manufacturing and retail customers, including Morrisons, HiPP and Mizkan. Letting agent on the deal was Burbage Realty.
Nigel Tullett, Bibby’s corporate and strategy development director, said: “Max Park has been the lynchpin of our operations in the East Midlands as we support ever growing customer demand. The new warehouse facility means we now have significantly more capacity in our operational centre-of-gravity, and by sharing management resources across the Corby Campus, we are ensuring the expansion is highly cost-effective.”
Bibby took the original 212,000 sq ft warehouse at Max Park in 2013 on a five year lease with tenants’ only break option after three years to support a three year contract with Japanese food manufacturer Mizkan.
