Currys PC World reckons that this week has been its biggest ever start to Black Friday. Today it said it had a 1100 per cent rise in hourly unique visitors, and a 2900 per cent increase on orders compared to last week.
The retailer said it had already had seven million visitors this week – and seen a ‘record peak’ in mobile phone traffic of 58 per cent at 6am, when the retailer’s sales went live.
Stuart Ramage, e-commerce director at Currys PC World, said: “Last year was one of our most successful trading days ever so we’ve spent the last year preparing for this year’s event. We’ve seen unprecedented demand online with a 53 per cent increase in hourly web traffic and across the country we’ve seen customers queuing from before the stores open – everyone’s in good spirits and things are running smoothly.”
