Tesco subsidiary Booker has submitted plans to transform its Makro sister company wholesale cash and carry warehouse in Fareham into a distribution centre and delivery hub.
The 8.62-acre site sits in the Segensworth Business Park and Industrial Estate and is home to a 131,000ft² warehouse with 372 car parking spaces. The new scheme envisages 11 dock levellers added to the northern frontage of the building and reconfiguration of the car park in order to create separate HGV and employee parking spaces.
Makro currently employs 40 members of staff at the site. It is proposed that the new Booker delivery hub / distribution centre will enable the creation of a further 160 employees, operating across three shifts across the week.
