DIY Retailer B&Q has secured a 430,000ft2 mega warehouse at Tritax Symmetry’s 721,000ft2 Symmetry Park Doncaster scheme in South Yorkshire.
The company has secured a 15-year lease on the bespoke building, which will become a seasonal warehouse and distribution centre.
The facility will be built to net zero carbon in construction, in line with Tritax Symmetry’s commitment to build all future buildings within its portfolio to this standard.
“We are planning to launch our highly sustainable seasonal warehouse and distribution centre in Doncaster towards the end of 2022,” said Mark Jacobs, Director of Property at B&Q. “It will allow us to get more of the most popular products to B&Q stores, and quicker.”
Located at Junction 34 of the A1 (M) on the North Nottinghamshire/South Yorkshire border, Symmetry Park Doncaster is already home to luxury dog food supplier, Butternut Box, which took a 151,388 ft2facility on a 15-year lease in August 2020.
Tritax Big Box has a long-standing relationship with B&Q and has been the landlord at B&Q’s national core products distribution centre in Worksop since 2005.
With detailed planning consent secured and full site infrastructure works in place, Tritax Symmetry can deliver a further unit of up to 140,000ft2 in just 36 weeks.
Letting agents are Savills, Dove Haigh Phillips and Colliers International.
