Sheffield council has given the go ahead for the development of four urban warehouses on a 16-acre surplus site at British Land’s flagship retail scheme the Meadowhall Shopping Centre.
An outline application for the development of around an additional 1.08 million ft2 of new space at the shopping centre for industrial, office, retail, leisure, car showroom and hotel use has already been granted.
The detailed plans cover the first phase and total 240,000ft2 in four units from 17,200ft2 – 120,500ft2 suitable for retail, general industrial, and storage and distribution uses.
The site was previously used for overspill parking.
