3PL Bullet Express has gone live with Microlistics’ Express warehouse management system (WMS) in its 210,000 sq ft warehouse in Glasgow, Scotland.
The deal to deploy the WMS at the 3PL was originally announced back in September 2019 with Bullet Express targeting growth in pharmaceutical and e-commerce markets.
Bullet Express said it wanted a highly-scalable system to grow as it grows, and provide customers with full visibility of the inventory it manages on their behalf.
David McCutcheon, managing director at Bullet Express, said: ”We have moved from a paper-based system to a system-directed RF operation achieving better stock rotation and task efficiency, and this has had a massive impact on our order accuracy, which has skyrocketed. It is a really pleasing result for us.”
The Glasgow warehouse serves customers across several industries including food and drink, medical equipment, steel and paper products, plastic decking, engineering products and furniture.
The company’s services now also include storage, picking, and packing of all distribution orders.
Charles Mooney, warehouse manager at Bullet Express, said: “The virus challenged the deployment teams to be innovative.
“Bullet Express and Microlistics stayed well connected with video conferencing and other collaboration tools. Due to the need for a remote go-live, we did a lot of additional preparation before the date to ensure the implementation went smoothly. And it did.”
Bullet Express the new service offering was already attracting order enquires, including one customer with 14,000 SKUs requiring 60,000 sq ft of storage and pick, pack and dispatch services.
Microlistics (stand 233) will be at IntraLogisteX, which takes place on 1st and 2nd October at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry. For more details go to: www.intralogistex.co.uk
