Carrefour has chosen XPO Logistics to manage its online ‘non-food’ store, Carrefour Online, for the Spanish market.
Operating from a 14,000 sqm logistics centre in Yunquera de Henares (Guadalajara) with a capacity of over, XPO will initially create 80 direct jobs, planned to double over the next three years.
Antonio Aguilar, Carrefour’s operational supply chain director, said XPO “is an extremely flexible company that offers reliable information processes and systems, a highly-developed capacity to manage business fluctuations on a weekly, monthly or yearly basis, customer returns management, rapid response times, as well as other features which we took into account when it came to making the decision”.
XPO will be managing a logistics model designed for Carrefour Online based on a traceability system and a multi-reference product management process. “This system enables real-time management of an extensive catalogue of products with rapid fulfillment, from the placement of the order to its availability to the end customer,” said Rui Marques, XPO’s managing director Iberia for logistics solutions.
