Electrical and telecommunications retailer Dixons Warehouse has ordered 40 box vans and 30 curtainsiders from the Cartwright Group to carry branch replenishments through its nationwide network of distribution centres and branches.
The box van trailers are straight frame tandem trailers with a Palfinger retractable tailift. They will be operated by Dixons Carphone’s third-party logistics provider DHL as it carries Dixons’ ‘big box’ products such as washing machines and fridges.
The curtainsiders also come with a tailift. They will be used across the whole of the business, including picking up waste electrical items.
“We wanted a trailer to serve both parts of the business,” said Dixons head of customer planning Robert Redmile. “Cartwright has built the curtainsiders to our specification. The whole purpose of the curtainsiders with tailift is to try to build some flexibility into our trailer fleet.”
