Eurotunnel says it has recorded its best day’s traffic for 2015 following the installation of 37 kilometres of high security fencing, the tripling of security staff and increased coordination with SNCF Réseau to secure the freight yard at Calais-Fréthun.
In a statement, it said: “For the past four weeks, the Channel Tunnel site in Coquelles, which carries nearly 400 trains per day has been operating to its normal levels of security.
“Since then, attempted incursions have reduced to almost zero and there has been no disruption to services. Consequently, on Thursday 19 November 2015, Eurotunnel recorded its best operational performance for the year, with close to 6,800 trucks transported in both directions, despite the increased level of security controls.”
