A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed by the chief executives of CMA CGM Group and La Poste Group to look together into ‘the challenges relating to the circular economy and sustainable urban logistics’. The collaboration establishes a closer business relationship between CMA CGM Group’s subsidiary CEVA Logistics and La Poste Group’s subsidiary GeoPost.
The two subsidiaries are to explore ‘new ways to capitalise on their respective strengths in parcel delivery, transport, and storage’.
“The planned collaboration in circular economy and urban logistics services fits in with La Poste Group’s commitment to decarbonisation and sustainable development in France and Europe.”
Sustainability will be a key focus of the collaboration between the two companies. They will investigate ways to reduce the carbon impact of deliveries for their customers and explore low-carbon urban deliveries.
CMA CGM Group has set a target of reaching net zero by 2050, while La Poste Group claims to be completely carbon neutral and plans to cut its carbon emissions by 30% between 2013 and 2025.
