Combilift, the materials handling solutions and forklift truck manufacturer, has opened its new €50 million global headquarters and 500,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Monaghan, Ireland.
The factory is purpose built on a 100-acre site and includes extra room for future expansion. It is one of the largest manufacturing operations under one room with 11 acres of roof space in Republic of Ireland.
In the facility there are 60 welding bays, 2 plasma cutting machines, 3 paint lines, 3 automatic shot blasters and 12,000 pallet locations. The new facility will allow Combilift to achieve its ambitious growth plans of increasing production.
The factory will double its output in a single shift across all production lines with four 90 metre moving assembly lines able to produce a finished truck every 15 minutes. Combilift has employed an additional 230 people to help with the increased output.
The “combination of this state of the art production plant and the growing skilled workforce will allow us to double production within the next 5 years,” said Combilift managing director Martin McVicar. “The flexibility in our new facility means that we can continue to accommodate any request for a customised material handling solution.”
Currently, 98 per cent of Combilift products are exported to 85 countries through a 250-strong international dealer network. “Combilift has set the benchmark for the mass production of customised innovative products. Mass customisation is the new frontier for both the customer and the manufacturer,” said McVicar.
