Baytree Logistics Developments has contracted construction company Glencar to deliver two new industrial units in Leeds, with construction expected to begin on 6 November.
The two units will have a combined size of over 220,000ft², one being 76,285ft² and the other 145,476ft². Glencar estimates that development will take 37 weeks and both units will be ready for occupation by July 2024.
The West Yorkshire development, which will be known as Baytree Leeds, is being constructed with sustainability in mind. The developer is targeting BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ certification and an EPC rating of ‘A’. Furthermore, it is being built to meet WELL standards for health and wellness.
Casey Ferguson, Baytree’s Development Manager for the project, said: “We are looking forward to starting on site at Baytree Leeds and bringing forward the first phase of this market-leading scheme.
“The first phase will consist of two units totalling 222,000ft², providing premium warehousing in an unrivalled location in West Yorkshire, capable of accommodating both national logistics and urban warehousing requirements.
“There is currently a significant lack of supply for good-quality buildings in the Leeds and West Yorkshire market, and we are hoping to capitalise on this supply imbalance by providing best-in-class buildings in a market that still shows strong demand.”
