Forklift truck manufacturer Crown has highlighted global efforts to minimise waste, manage energy use, and maximise product and facility lifespan in a new sustainability report.
Achievements include the redevelopment of more than half a million square metres of brownfield space to date, five facilities achieving zero landfill status. In 2014, Crown’s New Knoxville plant was the first-ever facility to earn the gold-level Environmental Excellence Award from the Ohio EPA’s Encouraging Environmental Excellence programme.
Earlier this year, Crown became a two-time recipient of the award when its electronics assembly plant earned another gold-level award. The company also collaborates with suppliers to improve the supply chain through optimised logistics that increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
