Debenhams has chosen DHL Supply Chain to provide warehousing and distribution to support its omni-channel strategy in a five-year contract extension.
Fast replenishment to 166 stores nationwide means Debenhams must have the right stock delivered to the right store in line with real-time purchasing trends, rather than through forecasts.
DHL will use sales data to manage Debenhams’ stock to support its online, click and collect and store replenishment requirements.
The supply of stock will be managed from three omni-channel distribution centres and will result in leaner stock holdings; while more effective transport planning will increase efficiency and reduce empty mileage.
“For the past two decades DHL has delivered a quality supply chain solution to Debenhams and we are confident that it will continue to do so over the next five years,” said Michael George, director of logistics at Debenhams. “With its breadth of capability and experience in delivering strategic change, DHL is well positioned to support Debenhams’ ambitions in the years ahead”.
DHL has introduced a dual fuel fleet for Debenhams’ logistics operations in the UK and Ireland to drive down CO2 emissions and help the business achieve its eco-efficiency targets.
Dean Wyatt, VP of Fashion and Beauty at DHL Supply Chain, said: “Our renewed partnership with Debenhams builds on the successes achieved so far and focuses on activities that strengthen DHL’s omni-channel distribution capabilities to meet the evolving demands of the consumer.”
