DHL Global Forwarding is launching a service that will give its customers the option of more carbon efficient ocean freight. The service will enable customers to select a carrier for full container shipping that is upwards of five per cent more carbon efficient than the industry average.
Customers are also able to choose to combine the service with DHL’s offsetting solution, and transform their consignment into a CO2 free shipment.
The new ‘Green Danmar’ service, offered via Danmar Lines – DHL’s own Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC), will be available immediately. DHL believes it is the first forwarder in the industry to launch such a service.
“We see more and more customers expressing an interest in minimising the carbon footprint of their shipments,” said Dominique von Orelli, senior vice president, FCl product & capacity management.
