DHL’s latest last-mile parcel delivery and urban logistics centre at SEGRO Park Newham, which has just completed, is set to be carbon neutral.
DHL has taken a lease of a new 51,474 sq ft facility which helps enable the company to grow and enhance its services in East London. The scheme incorporates several sustainability features that exceed the development agreement with the GLA and the requirements in the London Plan.
These include an EPC A+ (carbon neutral) rating through photovoltaic cells which will provide solar energy for DHL to power its electric vehicle fleet and a range of sensors within the building which will help utilise the environmental, energy and plant performance.
This is the latest of 22 locations SEGRO has brought forward in conjunction with DHL across Europe. In total DHL leases 22 units totalling 2.3 million sq ft from SEGRO across Europe, 12 of which are in the UK.
SEGRO Park Newham is being delivered as part of the East Plus initiative, the partnership between SEGRO and the GLA, which is redeveloping 86 acres of brownfield land across Newham, Barking & Dagenham and Havering, delivering 1.4 million sq ft of modern industrial space during the 15-year partnership.
In October 2015, SEGRO was selected as GLA’s preferred partner to deliver East Plus.
