Digital and e-fulfilment volumes at Wincanton continued to drive profitability at the 3PL throughout July and August.
In a statement to investors today Wincanton said it was benefitting from an increase in demand for online retail, and revenue was significantly ahead of pre-Covid-19 levels.
It added that volumes in its two-person home delivery business had remained high through the summer months while operational efficiencies had led to an improvement in operating margins.
The statement added that given the combination of Wincanton’s improved trading performance, cost intervention measures and a recovering economy, it expected results for the current year to be materially ahead of market expectations. But this assumed no further Covid-19 impact that severely affects the business.
Wincanton have been shortlisted for four Supply Chain Excellence Awards in 2020. The winners will be announced on 12 November.
