Dixons Carphone is has started operations at a 316,000 sq ft logistics centre at DP World London Gateway to help meet heightened demand over the Christmas period.
It joins UPS, Lidl and fruit importer SH Pratt in operating from London Gateway.
In time, the retailer intends to use the port facility, which will enhance supply chain savings and boost efficiency for the benefit of their customers.
“We are delighted that Dixons Carphone has signed a lease with us to operate out of the building we refer to here as Plot 3010, developed with our joint venture partner Prologis,” said Oliver Treneman, park development director at DP World London Gateway.
“I’m convinced that operating from this site will add great value to Dixons Carphone’s supply chain operations, not least with the deep-sea port terminal located next to this facility. The port’s slick community network system, automation and ability to move containers from ship-to-shed in less than 24 hours will ultimately speed up Dixon Carphone’s supply chain and help with achieving a greener, more sustainable supply chain.
