DP World says it is looking to London Gateway as a key driver of growth in its portfolio of terminals next year.
The company, which also operates Southampton Container Terminal, increased container volumes across its global portfolio of terminals by 3.2 per cent last year, handling 63.7 million.
In the fourth quarter, gross reported volumes grew by six per cent year-on-year driven by strong growth in Asia Pacific and Europe.
Group chairman and chief executive officer Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem said: “We are pleased to see volumes stabilising in the UAE and as we look ahead into 2017, we expect our new developments in Rotterdam (Netherlands), Nhava Sheva (India), London Gateway (United Kingdom) and Yarimca (Turkey) to drive growth in our portfolio.”
