DP World and Virgin Hyperloop One have partnered to create DP World Cargospeed which will provide hyperloop-enabled delivery.
This will enable a fast, sustainable and efficient solution for the transport of high-priority, on-demand goods such as food and medical supplies. It will expand freight transport capacity by connecting with traditional modes of freight transport. Systems are fully electric with no direct emissions and can be powered by renewable energy.
“The global growth of e-commerce is driving a dramatic shift in both consumer and business behaviour,” said Sir Richard Branson. “On-demand deliveries are a novelty today. Tomorrow it will be the expectation.”
DP World Cargospeed systems “can revolutionise logistics, support economic zones, and create thriving economic megaregions,” added Branson.
Based on McKinsey’s assessment of the technology, Virgin Hyperloop One-enabled supply chains can reduce both finished goods inventory and required warehouse space by 25 per cent said Rob Lloyd, CEO of Virgin Hyperloop One. “DP World Cargospeed will offer unprecedented customer experience, reliability and the freedom from having to plan too far ahead.”
