DPD UK has recorded its highest ever ‘Cyber Weekend’ with parcel volumes up 13% from last year.
The company’s four automated sorting hubs saw the highest concentration of parcel volumes every night of the week leading up to Black Friday, and through the weekend.
DPD also said it had a record number of delivery vans on the road over the ‘Cyber Weekend’.
It said that is expected parcel volumes to fall slightly after the Black Friday weekend before building to a second peak on 16 December following the last major weekend of online Christmas shopping.
DPD UK chief executive Dwain McDonald said: “We start planning for peak in January and we look at every single aspect of the whole process.
“But we work incredibly hard with our retail customers to ensure we can give them the same great service in November and December as we do over the rest of the year.”
