DPD is set to secure a new parcel distribution depot in Washington, Sunderland.
The parcel carrier is taking the 63,206 sq ft unit known as Velocity 194 on the former B&Q site on the Armstrong Industrial Estate.
The facility, which is a joint venture between Buccleuch properties and Argon Properties, has just secured planning permission from Sunderland Council.
The proposed development has been designed to meet DPD’s operational requirements and specification. DPD’s requirements differ from the previously approved development most notably in relation to the reduced floor-plate of the proposed warehouse unit, which is now approximately 63,206 sq ft and a change in vehicle movement patterns.
The proposed warehouse building is orientated east-west on the plot, with the two-storey ancillary office to the south-west corner of the building, which will form the main staff & visitor entrance. The unit will be crossed-docked.
