The Energy Saving Trust has verified its first carbon footprint programme which involves a five step online training course. The trust has said that logistics companies would ‘reduce their carbon footprint more efficiently if they understood it better’.
The course, which is offered by Melton Associates, helps participants understand precisely how to measure carbon footprints.
“It is a well-known business principle that ‘what gets measured, gets done’ but there is another important principle ‘garbage in, garbage out’,” says Colin Smith, certification manager, transport at EST. “If fleet managers and others do not understand what they are measuring in their carbon footprints, they cannot take the best action to reduce it.
