Logistics operations in Europe have grown rapidly over the last couple of years and further growth is expected this year with the take-up of 365,972,954ft2 of logistics space.
Independent location, logistics real estate and supply chain specialist Buck Consultants International found that the fast growth of e-commerce had led to accelerated levels of space take-up across Europe, with the UK and France having some of the highest levels of occupation.
The UK is expected to secure 4.6 million m2 (49,513,987 ft2) of logistics space in 2022 according to research by Buck Consultants International.
Difficulties surrounding the uptake of warehouse space include “lack of warehouse personnel”, according to Johan Beukema, partner at Buck Consultants International.
However, the BCI predicts that warehouse demand will continue to rise despite setbacks.
