In a move to fortify its position as a leading technology distributor, Exertis has expanded its Yorkshire operations to a cutting-edge distribution facility at Lowfields Business Park in Elland.
The 127,000ft2 space, once the domain of online retail giant Buy It Direct, now serves as Exertis’ technological nerve centre along the M62 corridor.
In an off-market transaction, the company secured the high-tech facility.
Exertis, a member of the FTSE 100 listed DCC plc, has taken over Buy It Direct’s existing lease, extending until December 2031.
Nick Glynne, CEO of Buy It Direct, shared: “Consolidating our warehousing and distribution centres will create significant efficiencies within our business, which will ultimately further enhance the level of service that our customers enjoy. We’re particularly pleased to complete this deal in such a timely manner, which was helped by the willingness and flexibility of all parties involved.”
Leeds-based property consultancy, GV&Co, and joint agent Hanson Chartered Surveyors of Huddersfield advised Buy It Direct throughout the negotiation process.
Paul Mack, director at GV&Co, lauded the efficiency of the six-week transaction, emphasising the herculean effort involved. “We are delighted to achieve such a fantastic result for our client, Buy It Direct, as well as being able to facilitate the continued growth of Exertis Supplies,” Mack added.
Mark Hanson, of Hanson Chartered Surveyors, echoed Mack’s sentiments, acknowledging the tight timeframe and collective effort that resulted in a win-win scenario for both Buy It Direct and Exertis Supplies.
Exertis, with approximately 3,900 employees across 21 countries, has elevated its Yorkshire base from smaller premises on Lowfields Business Park.
