The 156,733ft² facility will feature a variety of designs which are aimed at reducing the environmental impact of day-to-day operations, such as compliance with the Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) standard, and will include ‘several sustainable design features’, such as rooftop solar panels, insulated ceiling and wall panels, and double-glazed UV protective windows.
Mike Roche, Manager Director at FedEx Express, Ireland said: “This new facility will also enable us to reduce transfer times to and from the airport, meaning we’ll continue to provide fast, reliable service to Irish businesses trading within the domestic market or looking to go global.”
Subject to planning permission being granted, construction is scheduled to commence in January 2024, and the facility is anticipated to become operational in early 2025.
