Commercial real estate investor and developer, Firethorn Trust, has secured planning approval to deliver a 340,000ft2 logistics scheme in South Yorkshire.
The 24 acre site, Barnsley340, will comprise of Grade A warehouse space of 320,000ft2, in addition to 20,000ft2 of office space.
Barnsley Council has now approved Firethorn’s plans for the site, which will sit within the wider ‘Phase 2’ Gateway 36 project – a high quality, mixed-use development, owned by Yorkshire-based land and property regenerators, Harworth Group.
“As the market continues to experience pent-up demand for modern logistics space, and the region benefits from ongoing inward investment, we are confident that the Firethorn specification will unlock the full potential of the site, bringing wider economic and employee benefits into the area,” said Paul Martin, Development Director at Firethorn Trust.
Work on the site will commence later this year and completion is due in Q2 2023.
Barnsley340 overlooks the Dearne Valley Parkway, less than one mile from Junction 36 of the M1. Neighbouring companies in the adjacent ‘Phase 1’ development of Gateway36 include Esco GB, Talurit, the Environmental Agency and Car Supermarket.
