Kenneth Howley Transport of Castleford has become a member of Pall-Ex, the first haulier to move across from UK Pallets under the deal agreed last month.
UK Mail set out plans to close UK Pallets in January to enable it to concentrate on its mail and parcels businesses. Under the agreement with Pall-Ex, Pall-Ex will meet with all members and customers, and will be officially recommended as the palletised freight network of choice by UK Mail Group, owner of UK Pallets.
Pall-Ex group managing director Kevin Buchanan, said: “As the proposed closure of UK Pallets progresses, we have offered our assistance to the network’s 73 member hauliers. It’s absolutely vital for haulage firms to operate without threat of disruption from top-down restructuring, so we are delighted to be the official recommended network of choice by UK Mail Group, owner of UK Pallets.”
Howley is a family run business with almost 30 years’ experience and operates a fleet of 18 units on the Pall-Ex network. It will cover part of the DN and WF postcode areas for Pall-Ex.
