Scottish group Ferguson Transport & Shipping has taken over the 18-acre K1 BSW Sawmill Site at Corpach near Fort William, which will now become its flagship logistics hub.
The site includes offices, 160,000 sq ft of warehousing, large hard standing and a weighbridge. It will centralise most of Ferguson Transport & Shipping’s local activities on to the one site in due course.
Alasdair Ferguson, group managing director of Ferguson Transport & Shipping said the move would “allow for further growth within the Company, and give us the necessary room we need to expand in the Corpach area and in some cases consolidate some of our existing activities in the area on to the one site”.
Howard Jones, group finance director of BSW added: “I am delighted that our Kilmallie site has been sold to a local Scottish company that is expanding their operations and hence employment in the West Highlands. Ferguson Transport & Shipping are a strategic partner of BSW Timber Ltd and this transaction further cements that relationship. I am sure that they will make as good use of the site as we have in the past.”
Ferguson Transport & Shipping is one of the largest operators in the Highlands and operates a fleet of 70 plus commercial vehicles and over 170 trailers. It purchased Skye Transport (Crossal) Ltd in March last year.
