After being closed since early December, the Forth Road Bridge reopened on Saturday – a month earlier than expected. The FTA has said that “ironically” members have been scheduling their work in anticipation, and will have to change their plans with “financial consequences”.
“While this is fantastic news for freight operators, we must not forget that the closure caused severe disruption at the worst possible time of year,” said Chris MacRae, FTA’s head of policy for Scotland. “The financial impact for some operators was devastating.”
