The Freight Transport Association is working with Gist to introduce an engineering apprenticeship.
Successful applicants for the FTA Gist Engineer Apprenticeship will be based at a Gist depot in Barnsley, Thatcham or Spalding where they will be trained in every aspect of engineering, including spending time on-site with the FTA engineering team.
In year three of the scheme, the apprentice will be given the opportunity to work with the association’s Vehicle Inspection Service Engineers.
June Powell, FTA director of operations said: “It has been publicly acknowledged that there is a skill shortage within many areas in our industry and as the UK’s leading transport trade association we cannot emphasise strongly enough how important it is to encourage young people to venture into a career in logistics.”
